In the hush of this sacred morning, as the sun begins its ascent, casting new light upon a world perpetually touched by the Divine, we, the children of God, awaken not merely to a new day, but to a fresh unfolding of the Paschal Mystery.
The Echo of the Empty Tomb
My dearest brothers and sisters in Christ, fellow pilgrims on this earthly journey, let us pause in this holy Octave of Easter. The echoes of the Angel's proclamation, "He is not here; for He has risen, as He said," still resound within the hallowed walls of our hearts. This is not a memory of a distant event, but a living truth that permeates every fiber of our being, transforming the mundane into the miraculous.
For what does the Risen Christ impart to us but an inexhaustible fount of hope? Before the dawn, fear and sorrow might hold sway, but with the breaking of the Third Day, all shadows receded before the unquenchable light of our Savior. Our Lord Jesus Christ, having trampled death underfoot, has opened for us the gates of everlasting life. This glorious victory is not His alone; it is ours, bequeathed to us through Baptism, sealed by Confirmation, and nourished by the Most Holy Eucharist.
Our Mandate in His Resurrection
This divine reality calls us not to idleness, but to fervent action. As monks of old, we rise to greet the dawn, our prayers ascending like incense before the throne of God, but our mission extends far beyond the cloister. The Risen Lord commands us, as He commanded His disciples on the shores of Galilee, to "Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to the whole creation" (Mark 16:15). This charge is for each one of us, whether in the quiet of a monastery, the bustling marketplace, or the distant mission field.
How, then, do we proclaim this Good News? Not only with our lips, but with our very lives. Through acts of charity, through the beauty of art that lifts the soul to God, through the patient endurance of trials, and above all, through an unwavering faith that confesses, "Christ is Risen, truly He is Risen!" Every stroke of the brush, every carved statue, every brick laid for God's glory, every word of counsel, every prayer offered — all these become instruments of the Risen Christ's continuing work in the world.
"Christ has risen! And what is this but our hope rising again from the dead? For the hope of the human race was dead, until Christ, our hope, rose again." — Saint Augustine, Sermon 232
Let Saint Augustine's profound words be a beacon for us today. Our hope was dead, buried in the tomb of sin and despair, but Christ's resurrection has resurrected our hope, making it vibrant, eternal, and indefatigable. It is this living hope that fuels "Sanctus Mission," enabling us to support those who carry the light of Christ to the furthest corners of the earth, and those who craft beauty for His glory.
Living the Paschal Mystery Today
So let us, on this blessed Tuesday of Eastertide, choose to live as truly Risen people. Let us shed the grave clothes of doubt, cynicism, and worldly anxiety. Let us clothe ourselves instead in the garments of joy, peace, and zealous love. Let our lives be a testament to the transformative power of Christ's victory. Let us face the challenges of the day with the serene confidence that He who conquered death walks with us, guiding our steps, strengthening our resolve, and illuminating our path.
May our every thought, word, and deed be an echo of the Paschal Alleluia, a living hymn of gratitude for the immense gift of salvation and new life. In Him, all things are made new; in Him, our mission finds its eternal purpose.
O Risen Lord, Light of the World, fill our hearts with Your Paschal joy and unwavering hope. Strengthen our faith, ignite our zeal, and make us instruments of Your peace and love in a world awaiting Your glorious truth. Amen.
