The Everlasting Fountain: A Morning in the Divine Trinity

On this sacred Sunday, we contemplate the profound mystery of the Most Holy Trinity—one God in three Divine Persons. This reflection invites us to enter into the very communion of Divine Love, finding inspiration for our lives, our missions, and our creative endeavors. Let us adore the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, the wellspring of all grace and truth.

Brothers and sisters in Christ, children of the Eternal Father, as the first rays of this blessed Sunday pierce the morning haze, let us lift our hearts in humble adoration. Today, the Church universal turns its gaze to the very wellspring of our faith, the unfathomable core of all existence: the Most Holy Trinity. This is not merely a doctrine to be pondered, but a divine reality to be entered into, a communion of love inviting our very souls.

The Light of the Triune God

From the depths of eternity, before the dawn of creation, God is. And in God, there is perfect, dynamic, and everlasting communion. We speak of the Father, the unbegotten Source, from whom all being flows; the Son, eternally begotten, the Word through whom all things were made, the Light from Light, true God from true God; and the Holy Spirit, proceeding from the Father and the Son, the very Bond of Love, the Sanctifier, the Giver of Life. This is the truth revealed to us, not for our full comprehension, but for our utter astonishment and worship.

It is the mystery that undergirds all existence, the blueprint of divine love imprinted upon the very fabric of the cosmos. As contemplatives, we are called not only to acknowledge this truth but to live within its radiance. Every act of creation, every grace received, every breath we take, whispers of the Triune God. It is a mystery that reveals itself not in logical syllogisms alone, but in the profound silence of prayer, in the self-sacrificing love of our brethren, and in the sheer beauty of a world brought forth by divine artistry.

The Dance of Divine Love

Consider, dear souls, that God is not a solitary monarch, but an eternal family, a perpetual dance of infinite love. The Father pours Himself out entirely into the Son; the Son returns that love perfectly to the Father; and from this mutual exchange, the Holy Spirit, who is Love Himself, proceeds. This is the model for all true communion, all authentic mission.

The Church, too, is meant to be an icon of this Trinitarian life, a community bound by charity, reflecting the unity in diversity of the Godhead. Each member, with unique gifts and callings, is united in the Body of Christ, animated by the Holy Spirit, and directed towards the glory of the Father. This divine economy of love is what impels our missions, for God's very nature is to go forth, to share His life, to invite all creation into His embrace. It is why we support the hands of artisans, for their work, when offered in faith, becomes a hymn to the Creator, a visible testament to the beauty and order that flow from the Divine Artist.

“If you try to understand the incomprehensible, you will go out of your mind. So let us say this: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are God. This is what we believe, this is what we profess, this is what we preach, this is what we hold firm, this is what we live, this is what we adore.”

— St. Augustine of Hippo, Sermon 52, 16

Living in the Trinitarian Radiance

How, then, shall we live this day, bathed in the light of the Most Holy Trinity? First, in adoration. Let every act of prayer be an ascent into this divine communion. Let us offer ourselves, our joys, and our struggles to the Father, through the Son, in the power of the Holy Spirit. Secondly, in charity. If God is love, and God is Trinity, then love is inherently communal. Let our interactions with others reflect the outgoing, self-giving love of the Godhead.

Let us also remember that through Baptism, the Most Holy Trinity dwells within each one of us, making our souls a temple of God. This indwelling presence calls us to live a life worthy of such an immense gift, striving for holiness, seeking truth, and radiating goodness. As we embark upon this day, whether in labor or rest, in silent contemplation or ardent service, may we be ever mindful of the Divine Family dwelling within and around us, calling us to participate more deeply in their everlasting glory.

O Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, we adore Thee in profound humility. Grant us grace to live ever more deeply within Thy divine embrace, to share Thy love with the world, and to glorify Thee in all our thoughts, words, and deeds. Amen.
